There is no single best truck parking app for Europe: the right choice depends on which countries you drive, whether you need live occupancy, and whether you want to book a space. The need is real, because the European Commission reported in 2019 that about 400,000 safe and secure truck parking spaces were lacking in the EU . The 2025 Connecting Europe Facility call added over EUR 91 million for safe and secure parking projects, according to ESPORG , an industry body. This post compares the apps that vendors document publicly, using vendor pages and trade press checked on 2026-11-05, so you can pick one or two for the 2027 driving year.
about 400,000
European Commission figure reported in 2019; the 2025 CEF call added over EUR 91 million for parking projects.
Which truck parking app should you install?
Install the app that matches your route, not the one with the biggest location count. A short guide, based on what the vendors state:
- Pan-European parking with live occupancy and forecasts: LKW.APP. Its App Store listing (checked 2026-11-05) states more than 50,000 parking locations in Europe, current occupancy and forecasts up to 15 hours ahead.
- Free live data in Germany: Toll4Europe, which is free, and the SID layer in HERE WeGo Pro. Both draw on German data (details below).
- Navigation with offline maps: Sygic Truck, whose offline maps include parking lots as a POI category, or Eurowag Navigation, which states offline maps but does not say whether parking points are included.
- Truck Parking Europe: a widely used app in this market. Vendor figures for coverage, price and offline use were not available when this post was checked on 2026-11-05, so the table points to the store page instead of quoting numbers.
If you drive mostly in Germany, our Germany breakdown goes further than this pan-EU view.
How do the main truck parking apps compare?
The table below lists only what a vendor page or dated trade report states. "Not stated" means the page we checked does not say, which is different from "no". Prices change often, so the table points to store pages instead of quoting numbers.

Sources for the table: LKW.APP App Store listing , Toll4Europe , HERE , Eurowag and Sygic , all checked 2026-11-05 or dated as linked. Logifie rows come from the tools themselves.
Which truck parking apps are completely free?
Toll4Europe is free by its own description, and so are the Logifie tools. LKW.APP is mixed: the listing says parking features are free and that all previously free features remain free, while truck navigation is a paid subscription with a 7-day trial. HERE WeGo Pro has a free base app and a paid Pro tier. Nothing in the research for this post confirms a price for Truck Parking Europe, so check its store page before assuming either way. Our guide to free truck parking in Europe covers what open lots cost in time and risk.
Which apps show live occupancy, and where does the data come from?
Live occupancy is available for Germany from public sensor-backed data and, in at least one app, for a wider European set from a source the vendor does not name. The German source is the Stellplatz-Informationsdienst (SID), run by Toll Collect and published on Mobilithek under the dl-de/by-2-0 licence. Because the licence is open, several products can show the same feed.
HERE added an SID layer with all 1,850 German rest areas on 2026-06-02 . Toll4Europe shows live status (free, partly occupied or full) for about 1,000 of its 2,200 German locations, so many listed spaces carry no live status. The Logifie Germany live truck parking map shows the same SID feed in a browser.
LKW.APP is the only app in the table that states occupancy outside Germany together with a forecast. The listing does not say how the numbers are produced, so treat the forecast as an estimate. Eurowag Navigation and Sygic Truck do not state live occupancy, so treat their parking points as static unless the vendor says otherwise.
Even good live data is a snapshot. The Logifie SID page warns that values may lag real conditions by several minutes and marks a record grey as stale after 15 minutes. A green pin is a strong signal, and the space may still be gone when you arrive.
Can you book and pay for a truck parking space in an app?
Yes, but only for a subset of sites, and usually through a partner. In LKW.APP, booking works by redirect to the partners Travis and HappyTrucker. Trade press reported on 2026-03-11 that the booking function covers more than 750 secured Travis spaces in 16 countries, with real-time occupancy and forecast search.
Other booking routes exist: Bosch Secure Truck Parking, the KRAVAG Truck Parking network, and a fleet-account product from SNAP. We did not verify prices, location counts or platforms for them against vendor pages, so we do not compare them in the table. Check each vendor page before you plan around one.
Booking matters because supply is thin. The 2025 Connecting Europe Facility call gave over EUR 91 million to safe and secure parking projects in 10 Member States, and projects led by ESPORG members took over EUR 74 million, according to ESPORG . ESPORG is an industry body, so read its figures as the sector's own account. The projects are meant to deliver more than 3,400 spaces, which helps but does not close a gap measured in hundreds of thousands. For the rules behind certified sites, see our explainer on the EU safe and secure truck parking regulation .
Do truck parking apps work offline on the road?
Only two apps in this comparison state offline use. Sygic Truck says its offline maps include parking lots as a POI category and that navigation works without internet, though it has no dedicated parking feature. Eurowag Navigation, built on Sygic technology, states offline maps and 52+ countries .
For every other app, offline use is not stated, so do not assume it. Offline parking points are also static. They tell you where a lot is, not whether it has space. A workable habit is to download maps for the next country before you cross a border and to check occupancy online while you still have signal.
Where do the free Logifie parking tools fit, and what do they not do?
Logifie offers three free tools with a narrow scope, and none of them replaces a navigator. Each needs no login.
- Truck parking and fuel station map : covers 31 countries with data from OpenStreetMap contributors and Fraunhofer/KAMO. A location card can show attributes such as showers, security features and truck capacity when the record has them. It has no live occupancy, no booking and no turn-by-turn guidance. "Navigate" opens an external app such as Sygic Truck, TomTom or Google Maps.
- Germany live map : live occupancy for around 1,850 German motorway rest areas from the SID feed, refreshed every 60 seconds. It covers Germany only.
- Logifie Driver Assistant : a free iOS and Android app with the same parking and gas station map and a driver hours tracker. It shows no live occupancy, and Logifie does not claim offline parking for it.
These work as a free second opinion or a planning tool alongside another app. Fuel prices in the Logifie tools are country averages, not station prices. If you need booking, forecasts or turn-by-turn routing, pick one of the apps above.
How should a driver combine two apps to avoid running out of hours?
Pair one app for live data with one for routing, and decide where you stop before your hours run low. Parking runs out in the evening, so the choice of stop belongs in the afternoon.
- In Germany, check a live layer (SID in Toll4Europe, HERE or the Logifie live map) for your planned rest area and one backup 30 to 60 minutes earlier.
- Outside Germany, use LKW.APP or another app that states occupancy, and use the forecast only as a guide.
- Keep an offline-capable navigator (Sygic Truck or Eurowag Navigation) for the route, and download maps before borders.
- If you need a secured site, book through a partner link early in the day.
When occupancy is unknown, treat it as full and keep a backup in range.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a free truck parking app for the whole of Europe?
Free parking maps cover wide areas, but each has limits. The Logifie map covers 31 countries without a login, and LKW.APP states that its parking features are free. Live occupancy outside Germany is not available in the Logifie tools, and booking is not available in any free map in this comparison.
Which truck parking app shows live free spaces?
LKW.APP states current occupancy and forecasts for its parking locations in Europe. For Germany, Toll4Europe, HERE WeGo Pro (SID layer) and the Logifie live map all show live status. None of them can guarantee a free space on arrival.
Can I reserve a truck parking space from my phone?
Yes, for selected sites. LKW.APP redirects to the partners Travis and HappyTrucker, and trade press reported more than 750 secured Travis spaces in 16 countries on 2026-03-11. Prices vary by site, so check the partner page.
Do I need internet to see truck parking on the map?
Mostly yes. Sygic Truck and Eurowag Navigation state offline maps, and the Sygic page lists parking lots among offline POIs. For other apps offline use is not stated, and live occupancy always needs a connection.
Does Logifie show live parking outside Germany?
No. Live occupancy on Logifie exists only for German motorway rest areas through the SID feed. The map for 31 countries shows static locations and attributes, not free spaces.
How accurate is the occupancy data?
It is a snapshot with a delay. The Logifie SID page says values may lag by several minutes and marks data older than 15 minutes as unknown. For LKW.APP, the data source is not stated, so treat forecasts as estimates.
Compare your next route on the Logifie truck parking map before you decide which app to open at the end of your shift.
