How does Czech diesel compare with Poland and Germany?
The bulletin lists one weekly figure per country, including taxes, so a station on your route will charge more or less. Czechia sits EUR 0.12 below the EU average, EUR 0.17 above Poland and EUR 0.30 below Germany.
| Country | Diesel, EUR per litre incl. taxes (Weekly Oil Bulletin, updated 2026-11-05) |
|---|---|
| Czech Republic | 1.98 |

| Germany | 2.28 |
| EU average | 2.10 |
In the same edition Slovakia is also at EUR 1.98 and Austria is at EUR 2.15.
Where should a Poland to Germany truck fill up?
Fill up in Poland first. Poland is EUR 0.17 per litre below Czechia, about EUR 102 on a 600 litre fill. Czechia still beats Germany by EUR 0.30 per litre, about EUR 180 on 600 litres, but it is not the cheap stop on this route.
Treat that as a rule of thumb. Both gaps compare national averages from one Thursday edition, and the next bulletin can change them. Check the Poland diesel average and our post on Polish diesel for trucks for the starting leg, and read diesel prices in Germany for truck drivers for the onward one.
Fuel already in your tanks does not get taxed again at the border. Under Directive 2003/96/EC Article 24(1), fuel in the standard tanks of a commercial vehicle is not taxed again in another EU country. That covers standard tanks only.
What tax and price cap apply to diesel in the Czech Republic?
Standard excise on diesel is CZK 9.95 per litre under zákon 353/2003 Sb. From 2026-10-01 the government cut it by CZK 1.939 to CZK 8.011 per litre, the EU minimum, and its decision of 2026-10-26 extended the cut to 2026-11-30, according to the Ministry of Finance press release . With VAT the saving is CZK 2.35 per litre.
A separate daily maximum price for non-premium fuels at filling stations also runs to 2026-11-30. The Ministry of Finance sets it each working day from the wholesale average plus a margin of up to CZK 2.50 per litre, plus VAT. For 2026-11-07 to 2026-11-09 the diesel maximum is CZK 47.28 per litre including VAT. That is a ceiling, not an average and not a pump price, so do not read it against the bulletin figure. The Ministry of Finance cap page shows the current one.
Zákon 353/2003 Sb. lists no excise refund for road hauliers. Both measures run to 2026-11-30.
