The eight states above 2.00 EUR per litre are Denmark and the Netherlands at 2.24 EUR, Germany at 2.18 EUR, Finland at 2.07 EUR, Belgium at 2.06 EUR, Italy at 2.05 EUR, Ireland at 2.02 EUR and France at 2.02 EUR, according to IRU's analysis of the European Commission's Weekly Oil Bulletin data.
IRU also reports that the sharpest two-week rises came in Austria at plus 10.5 percent, Germany at plus 10.2 percent, Denmark at plus 9.6 percent and Luxembourg at plus 9.5 percent, while prices fell only in Sweden at minus 2.6 percent and in Cyprus and Romania at minus 0.6 percent . What happens to diesel prices as national relief measures expire?
The timing is difficult for EU carriers because several national diesel relief measures are lapsing just as pump prices climb. Germany's rebate finished on 2026-06-30, adding roughly 17 cents per litre from 2026-07-01 .
