No official live truck waiting time is published for Kapikule-Kapitan Andreevo that we could confirm, so check two official daily counts: the Turkish Trade Ministry's Trakya directorate lists truck entries and exits at Kapikule, and Bulgaria's Customs Agency lists trucks processed at Kapitan Andreevo. Both show throughput, not queue length.

How do you check the truck queue at Kapikule before you drive?

Start on the Turkish side. The Trakya Customs and Foreign Trade Regional Directorate, a Trade Ministry office based at the Kapikule gate, posts a daily truck traffic table for Kapikule, Hamzabeyli and Ipsala, with entries and exits counted separately. The October 2026 table shows 1,298 trucks entering and 939 leaving at Kapikule on 2026-10-22, against averages of 1,184 and 944 for 2026-10-01 to 2026-10-22.

Then read the Bulgarian side. The Customs Agency publishes a daily report on freight vehicles processed at Kapitan Andreevo, Lesovo and Kalotina, counted from 08:00 to 08:00 and posted around 09:00. For 2026-10-22 to 2026-10-23 it recorded 2,476 trucks at Kapitan Andreevo, 983 entering Bulgaria and 1,493 leaving it.

A count well below the recent average can mean slow processing or light demand. Use the tables as a clue, then confirm with your agent at the gate and your own live shipment tracking .

What do the official counts not tell you?

They count trucks that were processed, not trucks that are waiting. Neither table gives a queue length in kilometres or a waiting time in hours, and both lag by up to a day. A high count can sit next to a long queue: on 2024-11-19 the Bulgarian news agency BTA reported a queue of nearly 30 km on the Maritsa motorway toward Kapitan Andreevo, while the Customs Agency in Svilengrad had processed 4,760 trucks in the 40 hours after the Turkish side reopened.

Treat any waiting time quoted in a forum or message group as unverified until an official table or your agent confirms it.

Which other sources help, and how far can you trust them?

Independent monitors such as nakordoni.eu publish a wait estimate for Kapikule-Kapitan Andreevo. Its page states that the figure is its own estimate, built from road speeds and driver reports, and that it is for trip planning only. It gives a rough view of the approach roads but is not official and should not set your delivery promise.

Frequently asked questions

Does Turkey publish an official waiting time for trucks at Kapikule?

We could not confirm an official live waiting time. The Trakya directorate publishes daily truck counts for Kapikule, Hamzabeyli and Ipsala, which show how many trucks crossed but not how long they waited.

Where does Bulgaria publish truck numbers for Kapitan Andreevo?

The Customs Agency posts a daily report on customs.bg covering the previous 24 hours, from 08:00 to 08:00, for the three largest checkpoints. It splits trucks into entering and exiting.

Is there an official live camera at Kapikule?

The Trade Ministry announced live camera images of the Kapikule gate in 2013, but we could not confirm that the feed is still online. Do not plan around a camera you cannot open today.

Is Hamzabeyli-Lesovo an alternative to Kapikule for trucks?

It is another major truck crossing on this border, and each official table lists its own side of it. On 2026-10-22 the Trakya table showed 644 trucks entering and 724 leaving at Hamzabeyli, and the Bulgarian report for 2026-10-22 to 2026-10-23 showed 1,425 trucks at Lesovo. Check permits and customs setup with your agent before you switch.

Keep every border crossing on your timeline with live GPS shipment tracking so a delay at Kapikule does not reach your customer first.
