Poland bans trucks over 12 t from public roads from 08:00 to 22:00 on 12 public holidays in 2027, including 1 January, Easter Sunday on 28 March, Easter Monday on 29 March, Corpus Christi on 27 May and 25 and 26 December. Before most holidays the ban runs from 18:00 to 22:00.
Which public holidays in Poland in 2027 carry a truck driving ban?
The rule sits in the Minister of Transport regulation of 2007 on periodic restrictions and bans, which the Ministry of Infrastructure traffic restrictions page summarises for vehicles and combinations above 12 t gross weight, buses excluded. Easter 2027 falls on 28 March, which places Pentecost on 16 May and Corpus Christi on 27 May. The 2027 ban days are Friday 2027-01-01, Sunday 2027-03-28, Monday 2027-03-29, Saturday 2027-05-01, Monday 2027-05-03, Sunday 2027-05-16, Thursday 2027-05-27, Sunday 2027-08-15, Monday 2027-11-01, Thursday 2027-11-11, Saturday 2027-12-25 and Sunday 2027-12-26.
Cross-check each date for your lane in the Poland 2027 holiday calendar . If the route continues into other countries, the 2027 truck ban overview for Europe covers the wider picture.
Which of the 2027 ban days fall on a weekend?
Six of the twelve ban days land on a weekend: 28 March, 1 May, 16 May, 15 August, 25 December and 26 December. The other six cost a working day: 1 January, 29 March, 3 May, 27 May, 1 November and 11 November.
The pattern matters most in May. Friday 2027-04-30 carries the evening ban, Saturday 1 May the full-day ban, Sunday 2 May the evening ban before 3 May, and Monday 3 May the full-day ban. A heavy truck is therefore restricted on parts of four days in a row, and a dispatcher should plan collections around it well before the week starts.
When does the evening ban start before a holiday?
The ban runs from 18:00 to 22:00 on the day before Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, 1 May, 3 May, Pentecost Sunday, Corpus Christi, 15 August, 1 November and 11 November, according to the GDDKiA page on restrictions for vehicles over 12 t . In 2027 those evenings are 2027-03-27, 2027-04-30, 2027-05-02, 2027-05-15, 2027-05-26, 2027-08-14, 2027-10-31 and 2027-11-10. The published list names no evening ban before 1 January, 25 December or 26 December.
24 December became a statutory day off in 2025, but the Ministry of Infrastructure confirmed on 2025-12-02 that it is not on the truck ban list, and the same applies to 6 January. Re-check the regulation before you fix December schedules, because an amendment would change the list.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Polish holiday ban apply to vans and 7.5 t trucks?
The ban covers vehicles and combinations with a permissible gross weight above 12 t, buses excluded. A solo 7.5 t truck or a van is below that line. A combination whose permissible weight is above 12 t is inside it, and the exceptions in paragraph 3 of the regulation can still apply.
Is 24 December 2027 a truck ban day in Poland?
No. 24 December has been a day off from work since 2025, but the Ministry of Infrastructure said on 2025-12-02 that it is not on the ban list and that no amendment was being prepared. Check for later changes before you plan the week.
Does Poland have a summer weekend truck ban?
Yes. From the Friday that starts the school holidays until the last Sunday before the new school year, the ban runs Friday from 18:00 to 22:00, Saturday from 08:00 to 14:00 and Sunday from 08:00 to 22:00. The start and end follow the school calendar, so confirm them each year.
Can local road managers add their own truck bans?
Yes. Road managers can set bans with signs such as B-18 for gross weight and B-19 for axle load. Those local limits sit on top of the national holiday ban, so follow the signs on your route.
