Truck parking in Romania on the A1 and A2 is planned around 26 concessioned service areas that CNAIR contracted on 2021-03-22, with parking mandatory at each one. Secure parking is only an optional extra there. No public truck parking data was found for DN roads, where stops are mostly private lots.

Where can trucks park on the A1 and A2 in Romania?

CNAIR, the national motorway company, signed concession contracts on 2021-03-22 for 26 service areas in 13 lots, one area on each side of the road. Lots 1 to 12 are on the A1 from Nadlac - Arad to Bucuresti - Pitesti. Lot 13 is on the A2 at km 186 ( Alba24, 2021-03-22, quoting CNAIR ).

Each area must have parking, toilets, fuel with EV charging, a shop and a snack bar. Secure parking, a restaurant and a motel are optional.

A signed contract is not an open site. On 2023-03-09 CNAIR opened four areas at Orastie km 340 and Pecica km 558, both on the A1, with spaces for cars, trucks and coaches ( Economedia, 2023-03-09 ). No truck space count and no official A1 or A2 total was found.

What about DN roads and the border queues?

No truck parking data was found for DN roads. Stops there are mostly private fuel stations and truck parks that set their own rules, so call ahead. The table sums up what is and is not verified.

Road or areaWhat is verified
A1 Nadlac - Pitesti12 of the 13 concession lots, parking mandatory at each area (2021-03-22); Orastie and Pecica opened 2023-03-09
A2 Medgidia - ConstantaOne lot at km 186, one area on each side of the road (2021-03-22)

This guide gives no border wait figures. The border queue guide for Nadlac, Giurgiu and Ruse explains how to check live times, and the Romania truck driving ban times help you plan stops around ban days.

What rest can a driver take in the cab?

Under Article 8(8) of Regulation (EC) No 561/2006 , as amended in 2020, a regular weekly rest of 45 hours or more may not be taken in the vehicle. Daily rest and reduced weekly rest away from base may be taken in a suitably equipped stationary vehicle. A service area works for a daily rest. A regular weekly rest needs accommodation outside the cab, paid by the employer.

To see listed truck parking and fuel stations in Romania, open the free Romania parking map . It needs no login and uses OpenStreetMap and Fraunhofer/KAMO data. A location card shows showers, toilets, security, capacity or whether it is paid only where the data has them. It has no live occupancy for Romania, no booking and no navigation. Frequently asked questions

Where can I park a truck on the A1 in Romania?

Use the A1 concessioned service areas, which must provide parking on both sides of the road. Orastie km 340 and Pecica km 558 opened on 2023-03-09. Confirm opening and capacity at any other area before you drive.

Is truck parking in Romania free or paid?

No official statement on whether service-area truck parking is free was found, and no public prices were found for Romanian secure truck parks. Ask the operator before you stop.

Are there secure truck parks on the A1 and A2?

Secure parking is optional for each concessionaire, so it varies by area. Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/1012 sets four security levels, bronze to platinum, with independent certification. Ask a site for its level before you rely on it.

Can I take a weekly rest in the cab?

No, not a regular weekly rest of 45 hours or more, which must be taken outside the vehicle under Regulation (EC) No 561/2006. Daily rest and reduced weekly rest away from base may be taken in a suitably equipped stationary vehicle.
