A truck toll calculator for Europe is usually a set of tools rather than one: an official calculator or rate finder for each country, plus a pan-European planner when you need a whole route in one place. Everything here was checked on 2026-11-06, and for scale, Germany charges EUR 0.348 per km for a Euro 6 truck over 18 t with 5 or more axles in CO2 class 1, a rate in force since 2024-07-01 according to the Toll Collect tariff page . This guide compares the free and official tools, explains how to estimate a route country by country, and walks through one worked Germany to Netherlands example.
Which free truck toll calculators exist, and how do they compare?
Official operators and commercial vendors offer free or trial calculators, but their scope differs a lot. Some return a rate per kilometre for your vehicle. Others price a full route. The table lists what each public page confirms, and "not confirmed" marks anything the pages did not state.
| Tool | Scope | What it does | Inputs named on the page | Login or cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Toll Collect toll calculator | Germany | Rate finder, not a route cost calculator | not confirmed | not confirmed |
| ASFINAG Toll calculator and Toll calculator light | Austria | Calculates the amount of GO toll | Euro class, axles, CO2 class (1 to 7 in the full version, 1 to 5 in the light version) | Login not mentioned on the rates page |
| e-TOLL route calculator | Poland | Rough cost of a trip on the toll road network | not confirmed | not confirmed |
| HU-GO toll calculator | Hungary | Official toll calculator linked from hu-go.hu; a new planner announced 2026-11-02, details not verified | not confirmed | not confirmed |
| RDW rate search tool | Netherlands | Rate finder, returns a rate per km | Technical maximum mass, CO2 class, Euro class | not confirmed |
| IMPARGO HGV toll calculator | Europe, self-reported: all EU countries plus neighbours such as Turkey and the United Kingdom | Toll calculation for a planned route | Axles, axle load or weight, ADR classes, emission class | Described as free, signup and limits not stated |
| MapTrip truck toll calculator | Germany only | Gives "a rough idea" of the toll | Total weight, axles | Free, no registration required |
| PTV Map&Guide | Germany, France, Poland, Czechia and the rest of Europe | Toll cost from vehicle specifications | Vehicle specifications | Commercial product, pricing not listed, trial on request |
| TollGuru | Europe | Route tolls, plus a Toll API | not confirmed | API key needed, free status not confirmed |
| DKV CargoApps | not confirmed | Route planning and toll calculation including CO2 classes, described as powered by IMPARGO | not confirmed | not confirmed |
| Eurowag | No public free toll calculator found | Route cost calculation inside an account-based product | not confirmed | Account-based, details not confirmed |
The HU-GO, PTV, TollGuru, DKV and Eurowag rows come from each operator's or vendor's public pages, checked on 2026-11-06. IMPARGO coverage is the vendor's own claim and was not tested. Pages: IMPARGO , MapTrip .
Read the table with one point in mind: Toll Collect and RDW give you a rate, so you still multiply it by your own tolled kilometres.
Which official national calculators should you trust for each country?
For the legal rate in a given country, the operator's own tool or tariff page is the reference. Use the pan-European planners for convenience and the operator pages to confirm the figure that ends up on your quote.
Germany
Toll Collect publishes the rates and a rate finder. Since 2024-07-01, a Euro 6 truck over 18 t with 5 or more axles pays EUR 0.348 per km in CO2 class 1, EUR 0.340 in class 2, EUR 0.332 in class 3 and EUR 0.269 in class 4 ( Toll Collect ). The gap between class 1 and class 4 is large enough to change a quote, so check which class your truck is registered in. Our German toll rate per km guide covers the classes in more detail.
Austria
ASFINAG offers two calculators. The full version asks for Euro class, axles and CO2 class from 1 to 7, and the light version uses CO2 classes 1 to 5. From 2026-01-01 the rate for an HGV with 4 or more axles, Euro VI, CO2 class 1 is EUR 0.5724 per km excluding 20% VAT, against EUR 0.2774 per km for 2 axles in the same class ( ASFINAG ).
Poland
Poland does have an official route tool. The e-TOLL route calculator lets you check roughly what a trip on the toll road network will cost, though its inputs and any login requirement were not confirmed. This post does not quote a Polish per-km figure because an official tariff and trade press reports disagreed during research, so read the current rate on the official tariff page. See the Poland e-TOLL rate guide for the background.
Netherlands
The RDW search tool needs the technical maximum mass, CO2 class and Euro class, and it returns a rate per km rather than a route cost. For a Euro 6 diesel truck over 32,000 kg in CO2 class 1 the rate was EUR 0.201 per km from 2026-07-01 to 2026-09-01, then EUR 0.156 from 2026-09-01 to 2027-01-01 after a 22.3% discount ( RDW ). The Dutch band depends on weight and Euro and CO2 class, not on axle count. The Dutch toll cut explainer explains why the rate fell in September.
How do you estimate a route step by step?
You estimate a route by splitting it by country, counting only the kilometres that are actually tolled, and applying the right vehicle class in each. The European Commission explains why class matters: under Directive (EU) 2022/362 , adopted on 2022-02-24, heavy-duty vehicle tolls and vignettes must vary with CO2 emissions from 2024, and from 2026 the external cost of air pollution is included in HDV tolls.
- Split the route by country and note the tolled roads in each.
- Enter your vehicle: weight, axles, Euro class and CO2 class. Use the figures on the registration documents, because tools define weight differently. e-TOLL classes vehicles by maximum permitted mass including trailer, while RDW uses technical maximum mass.
- Find the per-km rate for each country in an official source, and write the tariff date next to it.
- Multiply tolled kilometres by the rate, country by country, and add any time-based vignette for the days you spend there.
- Keep VAT out of the figure.
- Add separately billed items such as concession motorways, bridges and tunnels.
What does a worked example cost?
The example below prices a Germany to Netherlands run using an assumed split of 400 km tolled in Germany and 100 km tolled in the Netherlands. This split is an example, not a measured route. The vehicle is a 40 t truck with 5 axles, Euro VI, CO2 class 1 unless stated, and all figures are net of VAT.
The formula is simple:
Toll = (tolled km in Germany x German rate) + (tolled km in the Netherlands x Dutch rate)
German class 1 gives 400 x 0.348 = EUR 139.20, and German class 4 gives 400 x 0.269 = EUR 107.60 (both since 2024-07-01, Toll Collect). The Dutch leg gives 100 x 0.156 = EUR 15.60 at the rate valid from 2026-09-01 to 2026-12-31, or 100 x 0.206 = EUR 20.60 at the rate announced for 2027.
| Scenario | Germany (400 km) | Netherlands (100 km) | Total, net of VAT |
|---|---|---|---|
| CO2 class 1, Dutch rate 0.156 (valid 2026-09-01 to 2026-12-31) | EUR 139.20 | EUR 15.60 | EUR 154.80 |
| CO2 class 1, Dutch rate 0.206 (announced for 2027) | EUR 139.20 | EUR 20.60 | EUR 159.80 |
| CO2 class 4, Dutch rate 0.156 (valid 2026-09-01 to 2026-12-31) | EUR 107.60 | EUR 15.60 | EUR 123.20 |
The German rates come from Toll Collect . The Dutch rates come from the RDW rate page , and the 2027 figure comes from the RDW news item of 2026-08-20 , which also says the discount ends on 2026-12-31 and that rates rise by 2.6% on 2027-01-01 through indexation.
Two lessons come out of the numbers. The CO2 class moves the German leg by EUR 31.60 on this split, far more than the Dutch rate change, which adds EUR 5.00 on the same split. And the same corridor quoted in December 2026 and in January 2027 will not cost the same, so date every quote. The 2027 toll changes overview tracks what shifts across countries.
Why do toll calculators disagree with each other and with your invoice?
Calculators disagree because each one answers a slightly different question, and invoices add items that calculators leave out. The causes are few and repeat across countries:
- Concessions. Polish concession motorways are paid to the operator, not through e-TOLL, so an e-TOLL result excludes them.
- Special sections. Austrian section tolls, the A12 Unterinntal and the A13 Brenner night rate sit outside a simple per-km figure.
- CO2 class. In Germany, class 1 is EUR 0.348 per km and class 4 is EUR 0.269, so a wrong class changes the German leg noticeably.
- Axles. Austria charges EUR 0.2774 per km for 2 axles and EUR 0.5724 for 4 or more in the same Euro VI, CO2 class 1 case.
- Euro class. Poland uses a single top class of minimum EURO 5, so a Euro VI truck gets no separate rate there.
- VAT. ASFINAG publishes rates excluding 20% VAT, so mixing net and gross figures skews a comparison.
- Rate year. The Dutch rate for the same truck was 0.201, then 0.156, and is announced at 0.206 for 2027.
- Scope. MapTrip covers Germany only and describes its result as a rough idea.
The practical habit is to write down the tariff date, the vehicle class and the VAT treatment next to every calculated number.
Where does the Logifie freight calculator fit, and where does it stop?
The Logifie freight calculator is a free cost tool for carriers, with no signup, that turns tolled kilometres you type in into a planning figure. It is a carrier cost tool, not a shipper quote, and results can be downloaded as a PDF. It does not plan routes or calculate distances, so you enter the tolled kilometres for the loaded part of the job in each country yourself.
It offers three vehicle classes: a van up to 3.5 t, a small truck modelled at 11.99 t (many toll systems charge more from exactly 12 t) and a 40 t truck. It covers 23 countries: DE, AT, FR, IT, ES, PL, CZ, SK, HU, SI, NL, BE, RO, PT, CH, DK, SE, LU, HR, BG, LT, LV and EE. Rates follow official 2026 tariffs per vehicle type, net of VAT, for Euro VI, including German CO2 classes 1 to 5. Class 5, zero-emission, is exempt until 2031-06-30.
Its limits are specific:
- The figures are averages for planning, not route-exact billing. Bridges, tunnels and private concession motorways are excluded.
- France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Croatia use concession averages, and the Spanish figure applies to tolled AP kilometres only.
- Sweden, Luxembourg and the Baltic states use time-based passes, priced as the cheapest pass for the days in the country.
- For the 40 t truck the planning rates are EUR 0.348 per km for Germany in class 1, EUR 0.5724 for Austria (4 or more axles) and EUR 0.201 for the Netherlands. The Dutch figure is the base rate, so the 2026-09-01 to 2026-12-31 discount is not applied, unlike the worked example above.
- Tolls on empty kilometres are estimated at the trip's per-km toll rate, and results are in EUR only.
- The United Kingdom, Norway, Turkey, Serbia, Ukraine, Greece, Ireland and Finland are not covered.
That makes it a quick way to price a multi-country job when you already know the tolled kilometres, and a poor fit for exact invoice reconciliation.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a free truck toll calculator that covers all of Europe?
IMPARGO describes its HGV toll calculator as free and reports coverage of all EU countries plus neighbours such as Turkey and the United Kingdom, but signup and usage limits are not stated on the page. That coverage is the vendor's own claim. Compare any pan-European result with the national operator's tariff before you quote.
Does Toll Collect have a route calculator?
Toll Collect offers a toll calculator that guides you to the rate for your vehicle, so it works as a rate finder and not as a route cost calculator. You multiply the rate by your tolled kilometres yourself. The tariff page lists the CO2 class rates by date.
Does Poland have an official toll calculator for trucks?
Yes. The e-TOLL site has a route calculator that shows roughly what a trip on the toll road network will cost. Concession motorways are paid to their operators outside e-TOLL, so add those separately.
Which CO2 class should I enter in the Netherlands?
Use the CO2 class shown as code V7 in the RDW vehicle check. RDW notes that results from third-party CO2 class search tools are not official, so rely on the vehicle check for your entry.
Should a toll estimate include VAT?
Keep toll estimates net of VAT so country figures compare cleanly. ASFINAG, for example, publishes its rates excluding 20% VAT.
When should I recheck my toll numbers?
Recheck at the start of every year and whenever an operator announces a change. For the Netherlands, the discounted EUR 0.156 per km rate ends on 2026-12-31 and RDW has announced EUR 0.206 per km for 2027, with a 2.6% indexation on 2027-01-01.
Can I use a calculator result as a firm quote?
Treat it as a planning figure. Bridges, tunnels, concession motorways, section tolls and a wrong vehicle class can all move the final invoice. Record the tariff date and class used so you can explain any difference later.
